Rep. Tracy O. King Attends First Eagle Ford Task Force Meeting

July 27, 2011

AUSTIN, Texas – State Representative Tracy O. King (D-Batesville) attended the first Eagle Ford Task Force meeting on Wednesday, July 27 in San Antonio. The Eagle Ford Shale impacts 4 of the 7 counties in District 80 represented by Rep. King; Dimmit, Frio, La Salle and Maverick.

“It was a great opportunity for me to meet the members of the task force,” said Rep. King.  “While we welcome the economic boost it has brought our communities it is also important for the industry, state and local agencies and elected officials to communicate and work together to maintain public health and public safety for the citizens of Texas.”

During the first meeting, members voiced concerns they thought the task force should address in future meetings. The most discussed issues included water management and developing a trained workforce for the project.

The Eagle Ford Task Force, launched by Railroad Commissioner David Porter, is made up of 22 appointed members ranging from representatives of drilling and trucking companies to green energy experts and landowners. The Task Force will meet monthly to facilitate conversation between all parties and establish best practices for developing the Eagle Ford Shale.

Representative King currently represents Dimmit, Frio, Kinney, LaSalle, Maverick, Medina, and Zavala counties in the Texas House of Representatives.
